How to calculate Video View Rate on Instagram
A video view on Instagram is considered to be a minimum of 3-seconds. This means if a user is scrolling through Newsfeed and a video appears on their screen for at least 3-second, that is counted as 1 video view.
Post VVR = 3-sec Video Views divided by Reach
Profile VVR = Average of all Post VVR’s during the given time interval (ie: last month)
What affects the Instagram Video View Rate?
As with Facebook, increasing your Instagram Video View Rate involves front-loading your video with interest and being as impactful as possible in the first few seconds. This approach is by far the most important for video posts, video Stories, IGTV and Reels. Any motion you create in the Newsfeed or Stories Feed needs to demand attention. The more interest you create, the more likely audiences will watch beyond 3 seconds, and the higher your VVR will be!
